    The de Duve Institute is an autonomous association administered by a Board that includes representatives of the Université catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain). The de Duve Institute is governed by a Directorate formed of four scientists of the Institute. An international Scientific Council of four members oversees the quality of investigations and of recruitment.

    The de Duve Institute is also registered as a so-called "ANBI Institute" by the authorities in The Netherlands, registration number 8257.68.755.

    * The Board of Directors oversees the policies of the de Duve Institute and the general course of events. Furthermore, the Board of Directors provides the Directorate with advice on action plans. The Directorate and the Board of Directors meet twice a year.

    All board members and all members of the Directorate meet the integrity requirements. None of them have been convicted for a crime.

    The Board of Directors and the Directorate consists of at least 3 persons who are independent of each other.  There are no family or business relationships between any of them.

    The Board members do not receive any kind of salary for their participation in the Board and its meetings, nor any other compensation (expenses allowance, attendance fee...).
