ABOUT US
Originally, two groups developed facilities for protein analysis at UCL. Since 1998, the Rider group in the de Duve Institute (DDUV) has used MS mainly for identifying sites of covalent modification of proteins. Since 2004, the Morsomme laboratory in the Louvain Institute of Biomolecular Science and Technology (LIBST) has been more interested in the use of MS for proteomics. However, the two groups are complementary.
The two groups are now part of the intersectorial technological platform MASSPROT, which is located in Brussels (DDUV) and in Louvain-la-Neuve (LIBST). The research teams that operate and benefit from the equipment are leaders in their own scientific domains, supported by numerous publications in high-ranking journals as well as by funding obtained from WELBIO, EOS and the ERC.
